On the Dial
There's a lot happening this weekend, including Carola Dibbell appearing at the Queens Book Festival, and the Summer Flea in Columbus.
Carola's panel—"Expanding the Landscape of Fantasy and YA Imagination" with Daniel Jose Older and Andrew J Peters—is on Sunday, August 7, at noon at Kaufman Studios Astoria. Be there!
Brett: While Eric is up in the beautiful Catskills, I'm holding down the fort at Corporate Headquarters. I've been working a ton at the bar which is slightly unfortunate... but I've been sipping on some really good beer. Some stand outs have been Jackie O's Matriarch Imperial IPA, Stone Mocha IPA, and Avery Liliko'i Kepolo (wtf it's amazing). If I'm not at the bar (working) I've been getting a lot of music things together for my band, Emily & the Complexes. We have a new album coming out on the 19th and are playing two release shows in support. One of them being next Friday, August 12th, at MOTR Pub in Cincinnati. The album is coming out on Koozie-Cassette (cassette neatly tucked into a dope koozie) with a digital download code, and will be available on all major streaming sites. I'm really excited for the show. Our entire band is originally from Cincy, so it will be cool to play there. MOTR hosts a lot of great shows and never charges a cover.
I'm excited to sling some books and talk to folks at the Summer Flea on Sunday at Seventh Son Brewing in Columbus. With my tiny bit of spare time, I've been watching Stranger Things on Netflix (obvi).
Eric: We're in the Catskills, in a small town. It's kind of vacation, but we're also working every day. I've mostly been getting things ready for the Frankfurt Book Festival in October and Masande Ntshanga's tour of the U.S. in September.
The first several days here were rainy and foggy, so it was slightly surreal.
I've been listening to Warpaint, trying to find time to read.
