Design of the Week | Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset
Richard Edward's (fka Margot & the Nuclear So and So's) new album Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset is officially here. I pre-ordered the album via Joyful Noise Recordings and received my copy before its release on April 1. I've been pretty stoked on it since I first heard the news almost a year ago. The long wait is over. It's so beautiful I can't stand it.
This Saturday, April 22, marks the 10th Annual Record Store Day (RSD). The all-day event began as a day to celebrate and promote independent record stores and music. With the popularity of vinyl growing, the focus of Record Store Day seems to have shifted. I don't think it was the intention of the founders of RSD or record store owners, but major labels trying to cash in on a trend.
The backlash has been for smaller artists. Because the vinyl cutting industry is so small, and the demand is so high, lower profile bands are getting put on the back-burner while limited edition Ke$ha records are getting pressed for RSD. On the flip side, it's great that people are getting out to their local shops and actually spending money on music. If you get out to any Record Store Day events, snag a copy of Richard Edward's Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset and make the world a better place :)
Side Note: Record Stores are open (almost) every other day of the year, and are filled with music.
