May 19, 2020

This Episode

Art in Uncertain Times: Andre Perry, Sadie Dupuis, and Phil Kim discuss how writers/musicians/artists/arts administrators might navigate a period that is marked by both economic uncertainty and perhaps a deeper community need for expression and connection.

Andre Perry is an essayist and arts advocate and the author of Some of Us Are Very Hungry Now (Two Dollar Radio, 2019). He received his MFA from the University of Iowa's Nonfiction Writing Program and his work has appeared in The BelieverCatapultGranta and other journals. He co-founded Iowa City's Mission Creek Festival, a celebration of music and literature, as well as the multidisciplinary festival of creative process, Witching Hour, and is the director of the Englert Theater in Iowa City, Iowa.

Phil Kim is the Marketing & Communications Director for Ohio Citizens for the Arts, a statewide, grassroots arts advocacy organization. A long-time resident of Columbus, Ohio, he has been an active organizer of arts and creative events for many years.

Sadie Dupuis is the guitarist, songwriter & singer of rock band Speedy Ortiz, as well as the producer & multi-instrumentalist behind pop project Sad13. Sadie heads the record label Wax Nine, which recently launched a weekly poetry journal.
