Design of the Week | 'Day I Die' by The National



The National | Radio Waves

The National have a new album, Sleep Well Beast, dropping September 8. They just released the final advance song, 'Day I Die,' along with a killer video by Casey Reas that pieces together time-lapse photos from the band’s sound check at Le Centquatre in Paris last summer. The new track is quite upbeat considering the band's signature melancholic tone.

I've been a long-time fanboy of the band, beginning when I heard 'Slow Show' for the first time, some 10 years ago. Sleep Well Beast is the band's seventh full-length album. As many bands seem to lose steam further into their lifespan, The National seem to be getting better with age, like a fine wine you'd catch singer Matt Berninger drinking on stage.

If you're in the Detroit area, I'm making the trek to the Masonic Temple on Sunday October, 8 to catch them perform with Daughter. I've never been to Detroit, so if you've got any leads on tasty spots, lemme know. Check the new video below:
